01  /  Origin

Most IB tools felt generic, outdated, and hard to trust.

I built CalculateIB after finishing IB in May 2024. During the diploma, I kept using tools that gave numbers but not confidence. They were confusing, looked abandoned, or made stress worse. I wanted something practical: clear inputs, real boundaries, and feedback that actually helps you decide what to do next.

02  /  The IB Years

I started IB in 2022. My subjects were Math AA HL, English B HL, History of the Americas HL, plus Physics, Chemistry, and Russian Literature at SL. I studied at a boarding school, so there was the usual IB pressure plus living away from home. Time management, stress, deadlines, and sleep became daily problems to solve.

03  /  The Realization

"If a study tool adds stress, it is failing its job."

During final exams I kept refreshing grade calculators and running worst-case scenarios. It did not help. The tools felt cold and unclear, and I finished each session more anxious than when I started. That was the turning point for this project.

I started learning to code and built my own version. The goal was simple: keep the math accurate, make the interface clear, and show useful next steps without dramatic language or fake motivation.

04  /  What Makes It Different

01

Cleaner interface

Most IB tools look like old spreadsheets. This one is easier to read and use.

02

Clear score targets

You can quickly see how many marks you need for the next grade.

03

Student tutors

Learn from people who recently finished IB, usually at a lower cost than traditional tutoring.

04

Less stress

The goal is to help you plan better, not make you panic.

05  /  My IB Philosophy

IB is hard, and there is no shortcut around that. But it does teach useful skills: planning, consistency, and working under pressure.

I was not always disciplined, and IB forced me to change that. Over time, the biggest shift was learning how to learn, not just how to cram. This platform follows that same idea: fewer distractions, clearer signals, better decisions.

06  /  What's Ahead

This is an ongoing project. I keep updating boundaries and fixing gaps so each new cohort can rely on it.

I also want to keep building the tutor side. The core idea is straightforward: students who recently did well in IB can teach current students with current examples at prices that make more sense.

A study tool should leave you clearer, not more stressed.

If you are doing mocks, checking your 6/7 chances, or just trying to stay on top of things, this tool is for you.

Use it to check where you stand, what you need next, and what to focus on today. No hype, just useful guidance.

Welcome to CalculateIB.
