Common questions about IB to Spanish grade

How does each IB grade map to the Spanish scale?

Each IB grade maps linearly to the Spanish 0 to 10 scale: IB 7 becomes Spanish 10, IB 6 becomes 9, IB 5 becomes 8, down to IB 2 which becomes 5 and IB 1 which becomes 4.

How is the final Spanish grade computed?

The page averages the converted Spanish grades for all six IB subjects, then adds the weighting bonus from up to two of the highest weighted subjects. The result sits on a 0 to about 14 scale.

What is the 0.1 or 0.2 weighting?

Spanish universities apply a 0.1 or 0.2 weighting to up to two subjects relevant to the chosen degree. The bonus equals the subject's converted Spanish grade multiplied by 0.1 or 0.2. Only the two highest contributions are added.

Are the converted values official?

Spanish universities publish their own recognition rules and may use slightly different scales or rounding. Use this estimate as a starting point and confirm with the institution's recruitment page before relying on it.
